What can I expect during my first visit?
Although each of our doctor’ s processes vary slightly, you can expect to complete a full medical history questionnaire and “new patient” paperwork.
You will then consult with the doctor. This consultation is your opportunity to discuss your health concerns and past health history with the doctor.
A physical exam will be performed which may include orthopedic testing, reflex assessments, muscle testing, and a specific chiropractic evaluation. X-rays may be necessary to determine an exact diagnosis. X-rays can be done right at the office. In order to have time to give your case a thorough study, your doctor will go over the results of the exam and x-rays with you on the next visit.
Then, depending on your situation, your doctor may give you an adjustment and/or begin physical therapy, if needed. Adjustments should not be painful, although you may feel some discomfort until the pressure in the joint is relieved.
What next?
On your subsequent visit to Lueders Chiropractic Center, Dr. Lueders, your San Jose chiropractor, will do a “Report of Findings,” wherein the patient is told about the current state of their spinal health, based on a continuum ranging from “normal” to Phase-3 Degenerative Disc Disease. The patient is informed that, in order to begin the process of San Jose chiropractic healing, he must “unlock” the stuck bones; they are therefore adjusted that day. The treatment is done in front of a mirror and Dr. Lueders sees to it that he notices the changes occurring during treatment (they always do with ABC! Posture improves, breathing improves, range of motion increases, etc.).
The protocol for checking a spine is very precise. Patients regularly note that this San Jose chiropractor is very thorough — not a “cookie-cutter” San Jose chiropractor, as some may be, and that he takes time with each patient — even though a routine visit is less than 10 minutes, face-to-face. Dr. Lueders asks them if they want the problem corrected, at which time he agrees to develop a treatment plan estimate.
Our San Jose chiropractic patients are informed and educated; they are effectively given control of how they’ll best make use of the services offered by our San Jose chiropractor. In other words, the patients choose; he doesn’t “sell.”It’s about education and informed consent. On a subsequent visit to our office, Dr. Lueders will do a 2nd ROF. During this time, patients are told the “how much and how long” info. The doctor will explain what happens in the varying phases of treatment-relief, correction, and rehabilitation phases.
Dr. Lueders, your trusted San Jose chiropractor, performs monthly status reevaluations to measure your progress. The course of care is structured and monitored carefully. Each patient is urged (required ) to attend a “Patient Orientation Class” where the doctor takes one hour to teach new patients where health comes from, how to get it, and how not to undo the results of your San Jose chiropractic treatment. Without beating them up with information, the principles of chiropractic are thoroughly explained. This helps everyone make good ongoing decisions that will help them, their friends, and family live fully and with greater health!
